Guiding Growth is a 5-part parenting series that centers around the development or enhancement of parenting skills through the guidance of qualified experts. These are 3 workshops every 2nd Saturday of the month from 11am - 2pm.
Session 1: How to handle difficult conversations/topics with your children
Speaker: Dr. Salmaan Toor
Date & Time: February 10th, 2024 11am - 2pm
Agenda:
- 11am - 12pm - Discussing how to handle these conversations
- 12pm - 1pm - Breakout into groups determined by our kids age groups to discuss topics appropriate for them
- 1pm - 2pm - 1 on 1 time with Dr. Toor
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Salmaan Toor earned a B.A. in Psychology at the University of Tennessee in 2000, and a master's in experimental psychology (M.A.) at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA where he honed his clinical skills in teaching and research. Following the completion of his M.A. degree, he was accepted into the clinical psychology doctoral program (Ph.D.) at the University of Tennessee. Here, he gained invaluable experience and training in how to work with children, adolescents, and adults. After completing his doctoral degree, he completed a one-year internship at River Valley Services in Middletown, CT. Following his internship, he joined The Family Center, a group private practice in northern Virginia for his postdoctoral training. He remained there as a licensed clinical psychologist for 3 years before relocating to Knoxville in 2012 where he currently practices.
